RTX No Longer Competing as Prime Space Contractor

RTX is no longer competing as a prime contractor in the space industry.
The aerospace and defense giant, formerly known as Raytheon, will instead focus on providing components and specialized services for satellite construction.

In an April 2024 earnings call, Chief Operating Officer Chris Calio said the shift allows RTX to play to its strengths in technology development and manufacturing efficiency.

Calio said RTX is pivoting “to being more of a component supplier to the space primes,” according to Air & Space Forces Magazine. Calio will take over as RTX chairman and CEO when Greg Hayes steps down in May.
