India’s Muks Robotics just unveiled its new Spaceo next-generation humanoid robots for the age of artificial general intelligence.
The startup, based in Pune, was scheduled to demonstrate the capabilities of its Spaceo Pro and Spaceo M1 robots during the India Today Conclave at Taj Palace in New Delhi. According to Muks Robotics, the robots can think, communicate, see, plan tasks, and navigate autonomously. The startup says designs and manufactures “AGI-powered robots.”
The startup, based in Pune, calls the Spaceo Pro the “ultimate partner for flawless industrial operations.” The industrial humanoid is designed for heavy-duty operations with its 200 kg payload capacity. Each arm, with 7 degrees of freedom (DoF), can lift up to 10 kg. Muks touts the wheeled robot’s strength and adaptability.
A variant intended for service tasks, the Spaceo M1, is described as an “autonomous intelligent social humanoid robot” capable of engaging in long conversations in multiple languages.
Another robot design showcased on Muks’ website, the Spaceo Prime, is intended for space missions. The startup says its mission is “securing the future of humanity’s existence.”
The humanoids run on a so-called omni-modal AI system called FusionMax AGI. The AI integrates actions, vision, voice, and language capabilities into a system that serves as the robot’s brain. According to Muks, the AI is fully offline and adapts seamlessly to new environments.”
The robots can learn independently by gathering inputs through its surroundings. Through a process called supervised learning, robots can teach themselves tasks from examples and feedback provided by human trainers.
Dr. Mukesh Bangar, a self-taught AI and robotics engineer, founded the startup in 2021. He was formerly a dentist. The company says its mission is to create robots that think, imagine, plan and to eventually extend humanity’s existence into space. Muks also apparently has a quadrupedal robot.
“From concept to reality, Spaceo embodies the future of AI-powered automation,” Bangar wrote in a LinkedIn post.
