The leading Chinese humanoid robotics startup AgiBot just introduced an AI-powered personal companion small enough to carry on your back.
The Shanghai-based firm, launched in 2023 by former Huawei Genius Youth Peng Zhihui, says its new Q1 robot delivers full-body force control with about one-eighth the mass of its full-sized humanoids. According to AgiBot, the 80 cm (2 feet 7 inches) tall robot’s lighter build improves crash resistance and lowers the cost of iterations.
AgiBot is marketing the Q1 as a “personal lab” humanoid with its open-source SDK, HDK, zero-code tools, and support for custom 3D-printed shells. Out-the-box features include voice interaction and onboard positioning. The startup says the design is meant for customization and experimentation.
The announcement capped a blockbuster year for AgiBot, which reports shipping more than 5,000 humanoid robots throughout the year. AgiBot’s Lingxi X2 took the stage alongside Mandopop star Wang Xingling (Cyndi Wang) for a viral dance performance during pre-New Year festivities. Also known as Zhiyuan Robotics, AgiBot has been steadily unveiling products for industrial, service, and hobbyist use cases as it’s rumored to be headed toward an initial public offering (IPO) on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX).

The performance followed a similar performance from Agibot's Lingxi X2 humanoids during Douyin's New Year Gala with another Chinese popstar, Vinida.

AgiBot has not yet disclosed pricing for the Q1 robot but its entry-level humanoids like the Lingxi are commonly cited around $14,000. Pricing below $5,000 would make it competitive with recent pint-sized entries from Beijing’s NOETIX Robotics and Booster Robotics.
